Soul Jazz to release killer UK MC retrospective

Hold the phone, hip-hop heads! Soul Jazz Records has just announced the April release of An England Story: The Culture of the MC in the UK 1983-2008.

With a range of styles from Dancehall to Dubstep, Grime to Garage, this compilation features some of the biggest names in the history of UK MCing. Old-school rhymers like Papa Levi and Tippa Irie give way to new wave acts Warrior Queen and Stush, while London Posse and Roots Manuva hold-down the classic hip-hop vibe.

An England Story shows the distinct way in which Jamaican reggae and American hip-hop have been absorbed by UK MCs to help define an identity distinct to England. The fusion of dancehall beats, new slang, and uniquely-British fashion are all expanded in the artist interviews and colour photos in this CD sleeve.

With over 25 years of MC culture on one release, and featuring the likes of Glamma Kid and Top Cat, this album is not to be missed!
