Friday, November 9, 2007 - 00:00
Possibly the best electronic festival of them all, Bloc Weekender returns in 2008 with its best bill yet. Famed for their daring line-ups, underground ethos and no-bullshit aesthetic, the Bloc massive commandeer Pontins Holiday Park, Hemsby, Norfolk, from 14th – 16th March next year, for a festival that encompasses all the best electronic music acts and DJs from across the board.
Some of the hottest tickets confirmed include an exclusive live set from a reformed Red Snapper - the infamous jazz-fuelled, tech-infused beats collective; and Chicago acid originators, Phuture.
Techno nuts are well catered for, with Detroit dudes Underground Resistance and Juan Atkins, the uncompromising, cigar-chomping Dave Clarke, energy flasher Joey Beltram, and a live set from the incredibly versatile legend, A Guy Called Gerald. New school heads like Claro Intellecto, Sleeparchive and Monolake will also rocking the weekender.
The dubstep crew will also be pleased as punch. Skream, Oris Jay, Kode 9 and Spaceape, N Type, Shackleton, Appleblim and Boxcutter will all be representing the bass heavy sound, and electronica-wise, Luke Vibert, Ed DMX, Ceephax, The Black Dog, Amon Tobin and absolutely tons more will appear.
In addition to the cutting-edge music there will also be go-karting, a swimming pool, a commando death slide and the all-important Ceephax Acid Crew's Fancy Dress Sunday Acid Bingo Session to keep you amused. Tickets are £110 each, and include accommodation, on the basis of bookings for between four and eight people at a time, according to the size of apartment required. They can be purchased online from www.blocweekend.com. It's guaranteed to knock your Bloc off!
