Upstart experimental deep house producer Rob Shields' latest track entitled 'Stay Like This' is available free exclusively via our Soundcloud. With a bubbling bassline that won't let up, it's an ear-pleasing, danceable rhythm ringing with soft chords and ethereal echoes throughout.
Featured on Shields' upcoming 'Autocalm' EP, set to release on 20th October, it's filled with a creative and captivating blend of heavy beats and ambient sounds. Shields' unconventional production style is reflected in the interweaving sounds influenced by his childhood fascination with post-punk, while also infusing a mixture of techno and slo-mo house.
After the release of his first EP 'Slum Room' on Petit Records in 2012, Shields gained the attention of Maya Jane Coles, featuring on her Resident Advisor podcast. Shields' rhythms and sounds bare a resemblance to those in Coles' album 'Comfort', which was released last year on her own label I/AM/ME. This has helped him climb from his early days of anonymity in Iceland to the hotly tipped up-and-coming producer he is today.
Rob Shields will appear alongside Maya Jane Coles on Saturday 1st November for Halloween at the Found Horror Series at the Troxy in London, joined by Ellen Allien, Joyce Muniz, Alex Arnout and Brendan Long for 'Maya Jane Coles & Friends' (get tickets).
