You have to hand it to Danish DJ/producer Rune RK, he’s not one to be easily labelled.
Having released on everyone from Cologne centre of cool Kompakt (as Kolsch) to Mark Knight’s Toolroom, and played from Berghain’s non-stop techno thump to the bikini-clad masses of Nikki Beach, 2012 sees the release of collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Kelly Rowland and Steve Aoki, as well as the release of a new ‘Powertools’ EP (think noisy rave-infused dancefloor bombs) on ArtiFarti on 15th January.
All this, and he was recently voted Denmark’s No.1 DJ, as well as given two Danish Music Award and an MTV Award nomination, no doubt helped in part by an FM radio show that reaches over 200,000 domestic listeners.
To celebrate 2012’s mammoth plans he’s dropped us an equally intriguing mix which packs house and techno with disco and electro classics, plus plenty of his own bootlegs. Enjoy and keep your eyes and ears on Rune over the coming months.
