DEADMAU5 CLASHES WITH ‘SHADOW RAP’ GROUP $UICIDEBOY$ OVER COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT
“I care. Because I care about the work I do”
Deadmau5 has called out New Orleans “shadow rap” group $uicideboy$ for copyright infringement, after he claimed they used an “entire section” of his 2008 Kaskade collaboration, ‘I Remember’, for their track, ‘Antarctica’.
The Mau5trap label head addressed the issue in a number of tweets aimed at $uicideboy$ and their label, G*59, following the tracks removal from YouTube and SoundCloud.
One of Deadmau5’s early tweets read, “And you kids are surprised YouTube removed the video? It's not a copyright “issue” it’s a copyright “infringement”.” You can see a number of the tweets below.
Deadmau5 also clashed with Kanye West on Twitter in March in a dispute over pirated software. The feud started after the EDM producer called West out for appearing to use a piracy website to download Serum, music-editing software produced by Xfer Records – a label co-founded by Deadmau5.

.@primeofcydonia "we're fans" doesn't justify publicizing other people's intellectual property without consent.
