FL Studio adds new synth in free update
FLEX is a new "production-focussed synth" and is a free download for all levels of FL Studio…
Image-Line have updated FL Studio to version 20.5 and with it introduced a new synth called FLEX. The preset-based instrument uses a combination of subtractive, wavetable, multi-sample, FM and AM synthesis. It then uses eight different macro knobs to control the key aspects of the sound that change depending on the preset selected.
The analysis section is a fairly unique and welcome concept – users can select between Waveform, Spectrogram, Vectorscope or Frequency Histogram displays, allowing you to see the movements and frequency content of any sound. Not only is it a good learning tool, it looks pretty cool too. There's also the usual FX including reverb, delay and a master filter with 21 different types to choose from. As well as FLEX, there's a whole heap of improvements including using FL Studio as a VST or AU host on macOS, alt+click to preview an entire sample in the browser and a new Plugin Performance Monitor to pinpoint resource-heavy plugs.
The new update is a free download so FL Studio users can grab FLEX here. Last year, FL Studio finally came to macOS.
