Labyrinth festival cancels first day due to super typhoon
The festival is now expected to begin this Sunday
Japanese festival Labyrinth has been forced to cancel its first day this Saturday due to the forecasted Super Typhoon Hagibis.
It's expected that the typhoon will bring 90 MPH winds and heavy rain. "The levels of rain now projected on Saturday are extremely high across a large part of the country," said the festival's promoter, Mindgames, adding "it is now clear that trying to start the event on Saturday would not be safe".
Mindgames' statement continues: "On Sunday morning, as soon as we can assess the situation, we will announce the music start time. We don't know when that will be, but our team will be doing whatever it takes to enable the earliest start possible. We have worked through typhoons in the past, and we will do so again."
The festival is now expected to begin at 10AM this Sunday, October 13th and will run into the next day. It's not yet clear how the first day's cancellation will affect the overall programming.
Batu, DJ Nobu and Peter Van Hoesen are amongst those lined up to DJ at the event, while Donato Dozzy, Surgeon and more will play live sets. Last year, Mindgames made the decision to keep the lineup secret until the event began.
