Launched in 2006, and the moved to its current location in 2013, the Parisian Smallville Records store was launched by Jacques Bon and Henrik Weber AKA Pantha Du Prince. A statement on Facebook reads: "The story of the Smallville Paris record shop has come to an end, and I would like to thank you all deeply for taking part in this great adventure and experiment."
The original Hamburg store will keep its doors open, and there's been no reason given for the closing of the Parisian location.
Recent outputs from the Hamburg label, that specialises in a distinctive palette of intricate house, include releases from Moomin, Julius Steinhoff and Rhythm of Paradise.
The full statement is available here, with an additional excerpt from Jacques Bon stating: "When I look proudly back at what we have achieved, I am also confident for the future chapters of my musical life (new releases, a new booking agent and some exciting new projects to come). And as you can imagine , I am looking forward a lot to keep on sharing music with you."
