The full set by Berlin original Paul Kalkbrenner live at Sónar is now online.
Few DJs have achieved the kind of stardom Paul Kalkbrenner has. His star was born out of the Berlin techno underground scene as the city reunified when he was just 13 years old. He went on to international stardom, playing the biggest festivals in the world, and even starring in his own movie, the aptly titled Berlin Calling.
It’s his history as a young teenager exploring Berlin’s nacant techno scene that inspired his latest LP, ‘Parts of Life,’ which is Kalkbrenner’s eighth studio album.
At the 2019 edition of Sónar in Barcelona, Kalkbrenner displayed the same dizzying energy that has carried him around the globe as a DJ, deftly channeled through his live performance. He goes hard, he goes melodic, and even drops a true Kalbrenner classic, ‘Sky and Sand,’ as every arm in the audience is raised in praise. Watch it below.
And if that's not enough Sónar action for you, watch sets from Daphni, Joseph Capriati, Dixon, and more here.
