iO-808 is the most accurate TR-808 in-browser replica yet…

Software engineer Vincent Jackson launched his iO-808 to mark 808 day on August 8, which is the most accurate browser-based replica of Roland’s classic drum machine yet.

Jackson has paid close attention to detail on the iO-808, ensuring that everything down to the typeface is authentic, whilst all the pads, instrument select and tone dials are where you would expect.

Jackson has added on GitHub that, because the drum sounds are synthesised by Web Audio API as oppose to samples, some components could do with improvement, whilst several features are still to be implemented. These include the pre-scale function and play mode.

Once you’ve had your fill of the iO-808, which you can try here, you can have a go on Teemu Kallio’s web version of the techno classic, TR-909.
