PRIME SUSPECT IN ISTANBUL NIGHTCLUB SHOOTING ARRESTED

Gunman killed 39 people on New Year's Eve...

The prime suspect in the New Year's Eve nightclub massacre in Istanbul has been apprehended by Turkish police.

Abdulkadir Masharipov, an Uzbek national, is believed to be the gunman who opened fire at Reina nightclub, killing 39 people.

The incident was deemed a terror attack by the Turkish authorities, and was later claimed by ISIS as retribution for Turkey's involvement in the Syrian conflict.

As The Guardian reports, Masharipov was arrested during a raid on a house just 25 miles from where the original attack took place. Four others were also apprehended, a Kyrgyz man and three women, while Masharipov's son, who was with him at the time of the raid, has been taken into protected custody.
