Space Ibiza sadly closes its doors for the final time after its last ever closing party this Sunday 2nd October, as owner Pepe Rosello comes to the end of his 27-year reign at the Balearic venue.
He hands over the keys to the Ushuaïa group after the party, which promises to be one of the hottest tickets in electronic music, featuring Carl Cox, Maceo Plex, Eats Everything, Tale Of Us, Roger Sanchez, Anja Schneider, Sasha, David Morales, Josh Wink, Kölsch, Darius Syrossian and many more.
Space has had a mammoth closing season on the White Isle too, which has included Carl Cox recording an Essential Mix there in August, as he comes to the end of his 14-year residency at the Playa D’en Bossa club, and Do Not Sleep’s stint at Sundays At Space.
Through the summer, DJ Mag asked artists to recall their favourite Space Ibiza memories, as well as for DJs that have spun there to bid farewell to the club.
Carl Cox picked his top 10 Space Ibiza classics for us earlier this week, as well as owner Pepe Rosello sharing his favourite iconic images from the last 27 years.
Just in case you weren’t aware of how iconic the White Isle venue has been since it first opened in 1989, watch these six classic Ibiza moments, including The Papa, Sven Väth, David Guetta spinning on Space’s famous terrace before the roof went on, Erick Morillo, Jose de Divina, Balearic icon DJ Alfredo, Timo Maas and Steve ‘King Of The Terrace’ Lawler. Just don’t blame us if it gets emotional.
