When Dax J made worldwide headlines last year for dropping an Islamic call to prayer sample during his set in Tunisia, it looked for a minute like his career could be over. As a result of the ensuing international furore he received all manner of online death threats, and was sentenced to a year in prison by a Tunisian court. But instead of wallowing in gloom, he channelled the experience into writing music, producing some of his best ever work that has made its way onto his new album. Appropriately titled ‘Offending Public Morality’, it finds the Berghain regular in uncompromising mood. DJ Mag joins him in Berlin to get the full scoop...

DVS1 is a true icon. He may have reached the top of the techno tree by a somewhat circuitous route — involving time spent in prison on drugs charges and half a lifetime of ‘anti-star’ behaviour — but his rep is now second to none. DJ Mag joins him as he prepares for one of his immense Wall Of Sound shows, to find a highly-principled man fully in tune with his place in the world...

Last year was an incredible year for party boys Solardo. After scooping the Best Duo gong at our Best Of British awards in December, DJ Mag's editor Carl Loben meets up with the pair to find out more...

She’s the hugely talented DJ, producer, promoter and radio host who’s carved out her own niche with tenacity and skill. On the eve of the release of ‘Mood 50: Best Of MOOD’, her compilation to mark the best moments of her label so far, DJ Mag tracks her down in New York to talk growing up in Beirut, fast cars and much, much more...

Plus our top tracks, remixes, albums and news of the year...

One of the most recognisable producers in dance music, Deadmau5 has blazed a trail on his own terms delivering countless albums and some of the best live shows around. His forward-thinking Mau5trap label also celebrated a decade in operation last year, with more new music on the way from the man himself promised for 2018. Here, we count down Deadmau5's most memorable (and controversial) moments...

Each month we bring you nine acts popping off at the moment...
