Armin van Buuren has announced a special, one-off show, entitled This Is Me.
The This Is Me show will take place on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd May 2020 at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.
This Is Me is set to be a very special live experience for trance fans, an amalgamation of all van Buuren's professional life brought together into one show.
On the show, Armin van Buuren says:
Marcel Dettmann's set from Dekmantel 2019 has been made available online.
The recording lasts just under two hours, capturing the momentum we associate with the Berghain resident. Tracks from the likes of O & V & R ('Reversing Into Tomorrow') and Gerd ('Arkest's Blaze') feature, alongside a classic cut from the legendary DJ Rush ('Djax-Up Beat'— released by the iconic label of almost the same name back in 2000) .
Amsterdam club Claire is set to close for good early next month.
The venue originally opened in 2016 in a space based on Rembrandt Square in the city. The owners' statement announcing the closure cited financial reasons for the decision and added that a "new team" would take over the space. It's not known whether that team will continue to run it as a club.
In news many people may not have been able to predict, Armin van Buuren is launching his own escape room in Amsterdam.
Set to open on Wednesday, October 16th, it will coincide with the impending release of his seventh artist album, 'Balance'.
Paul van Dyk has put together a banging trance playlist for Deezer. Off the back of the release of his latest single, and ahead of the Shine party at Panama on 17th October, you can listen to the massive collection via the link below,.
The playlist, which spans 22 tracks, has been curated by the German trance titan in celebration of this year's Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). On 17th October, van Dyk will play Shine's ADE party at Panama alongside Alex M.O.R.P.H, Asteroid, John 00 Flemming, Jordan Suckley, Lostly and Saad Ayub. The night will run from 10pm through to 7am.
Amelie Lens will play all-night long at revered Amsterdam venue Shelter.
Hot off the back of the release of her new EP 'Little Robot' on September 13th, Belgian techno titan Amelie Lens has announced a seven hour set in Amsterdam on September 20th.
Shelter has a 24-hour licence, so while Lens is scheduled to play from 11PM through to 6AM, there's a strong possibility the party could go deeper into the morning.
Dekmantel has released a new documentary on the seminal Dutch techno label, Djax Up.
The Amsterdam crew hit the Dutch city of Eindhoven, where the imprint was founded in 1988, to speak with bosswoman Miss Djax, who appeared in our rundown of electronic music's most influential female pioneers. Producers Random XS, Wladimir M and Stefan Robbers— AKA Acid Junkies— also make appearances.
Shinedoe will release her new EP, ‘Razor, through her own MTM Records on 12th July.
Having launched the label last year with the awesome ‘Mutant Frequencies’ EP, the Amsterdam-based techno stalwart – real name Chinedum Nwosu – returns for a second outing of peak-time dancefloor heat.
The title track of the EP is as sharp and ensnaring as the name suggests, with a subtle industrial edge and a deep, rolling groove. You can hear that below.
Drumcode Festival has locked the line-up for its debut two-day offering, which will take place at NDSM Docklands, Amsterdam, on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th August 2019.
Label boss Adam Beyer, who has a series of b2bs with Eric Prydz (as Cirez D) confirmed for this year, will of course be present, alongside the likes of Alan Fitzpatrick, Bart Skills, Ida Engberg, Dense & Pika, Ilario Alicante and Luigi Madonna.
In East Amsterdam, tucked away on what seems like a sleepy street (though that may just be due to the icy weather), lies the home of Don Pepijn Schipper. Freshly renovated — he moved in just the day before our interview — it’s a grand old building of wooden beams and stained glass, but with a slick, modern makeover; think glass walls, minimalistic furniture and the obligatory pool.
“If you want great success you need to offer great sacrifice. Otherwise why would you be so lucky? You can’t just carelessly expect things from the universe”
THE DARK SIDE
“They started yelling at me like, ‘You’re insane, why would you say no to this kind of money?’ And I’m like, ‘Because you need to stick by your principles.’ This kind of industry crushes you”
