5 ESSENTIAL ADE EVENTS YOU NEED TO ATTEND
Next month sees the return of Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). The 5 day series of club nights, panels, exhibits and networking events runs in the Dutch city from 19th-23rd October. The list of events is nothing short of immense, so we’ve selected five key events – one for each day – that you should build your calendar around.
TOP 100 DJS AWARDS CEREMONY
JACKMASTER AND MOODYMANN TO PLAY NEW AMSTERDAM CLUB, SHELTER
Ravers will have a fresh place to party at this year's Amsterdam Dance Event, as new nightclub Shelter opens with Jackmaster and Moodymann in the booth.
Set up by three veterans of the 'Dam club scene (previous experience includes AIR, Trouw and LET), the 700-capacity subterranean venue is located underground on the IJ riverbank.
Set to offer a mixture of house, techno and leftfield bookings, the space launches on Thursday 20th October with the aforementioned superstar DJs, plus local hero Tom Trago.
ART DEPARTMENT AND MORE REVEALED FOR DOCKYARD FESTIVAL 2016
Amsterdam's Dockyard Festival has announced its 2016 line-up, including Art Department, Monika Kruse, Paco Osuna and Oscar Mulero to name but a few.
Dockyard remains ADE's only open-air festival, this year bringing the best in four-to-the-floor beats via five stages set in the industrial surroundings of the abandoned shipyard at NDSM Werf.
Along with the aforementioned artists, other acts named for the 12-hour party on Saturday 22nd October include Dubfire, Christian Wünsch, Drumcomplex, Marco Bailey, The Advent & Industrialyser, Jonas Kopp, Raresh, and Jon Gaiser live.
DE SCHOOL ANNOUNCES FIRST WEEKENDER
Amsterdam club De School has announced its first weekender, which is set to begin on Saturday 11th June and roll through until the following Monday morning.
I-F, RROXYMORE and Nachtdigital director Steffen Bennemann all kick things off on the Saturday, before White Material boss DJ Richard, Giegling associate Kettenkarussell, Prosumer and Tako all join a packed bill for the Sunday.
De School opened last year and is run by the people behind Amsterdam’s now closed Trouw nightclub, which itself ended with an epic 35-hour party in 2014.
PATRICE BAUMEL TALKS HIS TOP TIPS TO AMSTERDAM
Patrice Bäumel is on fire. The Dutch DJ/producer has long been the darling of German techno imprint Kompakt, and now he's back with a brand new mix for respected Australian DJ compilation, Balance Series. We sit down with the man himself, to find out his top tips for visiting his favourite city: Amsterdam!
Patrice Bäumel's Balance Series compilation was released in Europe on Friday and will drop in the US on 29th April.

DE SCHOOL GETS STEFFI AND BEN UFO FOR MARCH
De School is the exciting new venture from the team behind Trouw, and the Amsterdam club has just announced its jam-packed March 2016 schedule.
Kicking things off with Beatrice Dillon, Lutto Lento & U, highlights throughout the month include Steffi, Call Super, Interstellar Funk, Job Jobse, Ben UFO, Bambounou and Lucy. Phew!
The intimate space, which is in a disused school's bicycle storage area, has a limited capacity of just 500 guests.
ADE ANNOUNCES 2016 DATES
The world’s largest club-based festival, ADE, is set to take place this year from 19th October to the 23rd.
The organisers are expecting a total of 375,000 clubbers to hit its site for the 21st edition.
ADE director Richard Zijlma has said: “It is fantastic to see that Amsterdam has become a global destination for both music lovers and the music industry”.
DENNIS FERRER: AMERICAN IN AMSTERDAM
It’s a tale of two cities for Dennis Ferrer, a native New Yorker who has brought his New Amsterdam swagger to Amsterdam, Holland. The half Puerto Rican, half Bermudan DJ-producer is as legendary in his hometown as he is in his recently adopted city, where he now splits his time thanks to the grueling demands of international touring.

This year’s Amsterdam Dance Event will go down in history as one of the finest to date! DJ Mag & Miller Genuine Draft danced their way around the Dutch party capital listening to some of the world’s biggest and best DJs in venues big and small!

TEAM BEHIND TROUW TO OPEN DE SCHOOL CLUB IN DECEMBER
Following rumours that first circulated back in May, an official statement from Amsterdam's Mayor has given approval for a new nightclub from the team behind now-deceased nightclub, Trouw.
Just like Trouw, the new venue, titled De School, will run for just five years under a temporary license and will be situated in a disused school's bicycle storage area, with a limited capacity of just 500 guests.
