Spotify is charging songwriters and publishers following “overpayments”
Spotify are reportedly collecting refunds after overpayments were made to songwriters and publishers from the streaming service in 2018.
The music streaming service have revealed they intend to collect the overpayments made through family and college subscription plans, in accordance with new Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) regulations.
Beastie Boys release B-Sides and rarities collection
Beastie Boys have released a digitally expanded version of 'To The 5 Boroughs'.
Originally released in 2004, the deluxe version of 'To The 5 Boroughs' includes 12 rare tracks, as well as remixes from Blur's Graham Coxon and Roc Nation affiliate Just Blaze.
Speaking on the anniversary, Beastie Boys shared, “To the 5 Boroughs came out 15 years ago today. For the occasion, twelve rare tracks have just been released digitally in addition to the original 15 songs on the album.”

Burial announces new EP will land next month, drops ‘Claustro’: Listen
Burial has returned with a brand-new song.
The enigmatic UK producer’s new track ‘Claustro’ premiered today on Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBC 6 Music show, which you can listen to here at the 1:10:40 mark.
'Claustro' will be released via Hyperdub as part of a vinyl EP that includes the B-side 'State Forest' on June 14. Buy it here.
California’s 4am last call extension bill has been vetoed
A bill that would have allowed several Californian cities to permit the sale of alcohol until 4 a.m. has been vetoed.
The “Let Our Communities Adjust Late Night Act” sought to extend the current "last call" by two hours in nine cities across the state. On 28th September, Governor Jerry Brown vetoed the bill.
In his veto message, Brown said, "California’s laws regulating late night drinking have been on the books since 1913. I believe we have enough mischief from midnight to two without adding two more hours of mayhem.”
Maceo Plex reveals Mariel Ito LP, ‘2000-2005’: Listen
Eric Estornel, better known as Maceo Plex, has announced that his upcoming retrospective album '2000-2005' will hit shelves on Friday 26th October.
Set for release under his recently revived moniker, Mariel Ito, the record will include ten tracks made between 2000 and 2005.
It will be released through R&S records, a label which Estornel has had a long and frutiful partnership with.

Nicole Moudaber has remixed two Moby tracks for new EP
The mighty Nicole Moudaber has put her spin on two recent Moby tracks for a new remix EP.
Titled 'Adoption', the mini-release features versions of 'Mere Anarchy' and 'Like A Motherless Child' from Moby's latest album 'Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt...'
Released via Moudaber's label Mood Records, the 12-inch hit shelves last week, but digital formats aren't available until Friday 5th October.
Major labels may make first change to vinyl production since 1978
Plans to upgrade existing manufacturing specifications for vinyl records are set to be unveiled next month in Detroit.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which represents major labels in North America such as Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group, will make the announcement at the ‘Making Vinyl’ conference in Detroit in early October, according to organisers.
Proposals reportedly include a technical update to the current process of producing vinyl records, which hasn't been changed since 1978.
