Live dance music has got a pretty chequered heritage. Inevitably when Scuba decided to make the switch from DJing to presenting his tracks as a live experience, there were plenty of pitfalls awaiting him, not least of which being an internet full of dance ‘fans’ ready and willing to open fire on any poor sod who dares try anything different.
Best of British
Orlando Higginbottom — better known by his ‘stage name’ Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs — is remembering the first mix compilation he ever did.
Best of British Breakthrough Producers and Best Remix award winners last year, brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence have now bagged Best Album for their debut ‘Settle’.
“It means a lot,” says Guy about their latest DJ Mag win. “And the fact it’s a public vote as well, it’s great because it’s actual fans and people who listen to the music.”
“That’s amazing, thank you very much!” says Andy C when DJ Mag tracks him down to an Australian hotel room to congratulate him on winning Best DJ. “That’s a turn up for the books! No, that’s really cool man, thank you. It’s nice to be recognised. Thanks to everybody for voting.”
